WINDSOR TERRACE — The woman who was attacked by a would-be rapist on a quiet side street early Sunday morning got a "very good look" at her attacker and investigators expect to arrest him soon, police said Wednesday.
Police have identified two "persons of interest" in the case and they're both people who live in the neighborhood, said NYPD's Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce at a Wednesday press conference.
Investigators are working with both DNA and video evidence to close in on the suspected attacker, Boyce said.
The attempted rape happened at about 3:50 a.m. Sunday as the victim, 34, was walking past 586 16th St., between Prospect Park Southwest and 11th Avenue.
A man crept up behind her, lifted her dress and pulled at her underwear, police said.
"She was just walking home after socializing with some friends," Boyce said. "She did not know him. However, during that fight, she got a very good look at his face."
The attacker shoved the woman to the ground and punched her, according to a graphic video the NYPD released. DNAinfo New York posted the video after further obscuring the victim's face.
"It's one of those videos you hesitate to put out because it's so graphic, but you know if you do, you'll probably get results," Boyce said Wednesday.
