RICHMOND — Police arrested a Staten Island firefighter Monday for head-butting his wife last weekend, prosecutors said.
James Welch, 42, attacked the 41-year-old woman around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday outside her Eltingville home, police said.
Welch told her "I should kill you," according to court documents.
The woman's forehead was bruised in the incident, according to the NYPD. It was not immediately clear whether the woman was treated for her injury.
Welch was arraigned Monday and charged with assault, criminal contempt and harassment before being released on his own recognizance, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.
A family court judge had, in November 2015, ordered Welch to only contact his wife via text and only about the welfare of their children.
