BATTERY PARK CITY — Lower Manhattan's waterfront is getting a bit cooler this July.
Hip-hop band The Roots is set to headline the Lowdown Hudson Music Fest, a free, two-day concert series along Brookfield Place's waterfront plaza, Arts Brookfield announced.
The festival, in its sixth year, features bands with a soulful, bluesy bent.
Philly's Legendary Roots Crew, who are also The Tonight's Show's in-house band, are slated to play on July 12 with opening act Antibalas, a longtime Brooklyn-based Afrobeat group.
Southern rock band Drive-By Truckers will headline the July 13 concert, which also features performances by Nashville singer-songwriter Rayland Baxter and country blues singer Valerie June.
Seats are first-come-first served, with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. Performances start at 6:00 p.m.
Brookfiled Place's waterfront plaza is located at 230 Vesey St. For more information about the Lowdown Hudson music fest, head to here.
