UPPER EAST SIDE — A plan is in the works to triple the size of a Citibank building on Madison Avenue, according to plans filed by a developer.

JSRE LLC filed plans with the city on Monday to alter the two-story Citibank at 1042 Madison Ave. at 79th Street and use the new floors for apartments while leaving the bank on the ground floor, records show.

Individual apartments would make up each floor, including two duplexes on the fifth, seventh and eighth floors. Amenities include a rooftop space for residents.

The building would grow from 26 to 80 feet tall and from 4,200 square feet to 16,210 square feet, the plan shows, which was first reported by New York YIMBY.

Once built, the new apartments will be located a block away from Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

JSRE and architect Joseph Pell Lombardi did not return requests for comment.
