MIDTOWN — Police are searching for a man who urinated on an NYPD tow truck, punched a traffic agent in the face and then fled.

The suspect punched the 52-year-old traffic agent in front of 18 E. 39 St. on Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m. after the on-duty agent tried to question him about urinating on a parked tow truck, police said.

The suspect, who appeared to be in his fifties and wore a red shirt, fled eastbound toward Madison Avenue on East 39th Street, police said. The traffic officer sustained minor injuries including pain and swelling.

Gary Jones, 28, saw two traffic agents pin a man on the ground who he heard call out, “I didn’t pee on the truck!”

Jones believed that restraining the man was too severe a punishment for his alleged offense.

“It was too much for some pee,” said Jones on Wednesday. “Everybody pees.”
