QUEENS — A woman who was driving her husband to the hospital lost control of her car Tuesday and struck five pedestrians, police officials said.

The crash happened at the busy intersection of Queens Boulevard and 71st Avenue in Forest Hills around 3:15 p.m., according to police.

The 67-year-old driver told investigators that she blacked out before losing control of the car and hitting five pedestrians who were waiting to cross the street, police said.

The pedestrians suffered minor injuries and one of them refused medical attention, authorities said.

The congested and accident-prone intersection is infamous for being dangerous to pedestrians. It has seen two fatal accidents in the past three years.

Police said there were no summonses issued and no charges were expected in the crash.
