SOUNDVIEW — Officers fatally shot a man in The Bronx early Sunday after he pointed a gun at them, according to police and reports.

Police were responding to a 911 call about shots fired near 1725 Randall Ave. in the Soundview Houses, as well as a ShotSpotter activation in the same location, around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

Officers saw 25-year-old Rashaun Lloyd holding a gun upon arriving at the scene and, although they ordered him to drop his weapon, he refused, police said.

Three officers then fired their weapons at Lloyd and hit him multiple times, officials said. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

It was not immediately clear if Lloyd ever fired at the officers, according to the New York Daily News.

Four officers went to Montefiore Hospital for observation but were released soon after, and none were hit by gunfire during the shooting, police and reports said.

Officers recovered a Hi-Point 9mm gun at the scene, and the NYPD's Force Investigation Division is looking into the shooting, police said.
