UPPER EAST SIDE — Sotheby's is reportedly looking to sell its glassy, 10-story headquarters on York Avenue.
The worldwide broker and auction house hired real estate investment banking firm Eastdil Secured to market its flagship building at 1334 York Ave., between East 71st and 72nd streets, according to a New York Post report.
The 22,000-square-foot structure with exhibition space on six floors and a 9-story glass atrium and galleries, could rake in as much as $500 million for the company, the report says.
Sotheby's did not immediately return a call for comment, but the Post says it is looking for another space.
The company moved into the building in 1955 and holds more than 100 high-profile art auctions a year, according to Sotheby's website.
Some notable sales include a vintage Aston Martin, Edvard Munch's "The Scream," which sold for $119.9 million, and an abstract painting by painter Clyfford Still that sold for $61.7 million.
Eastdil Secured did not return a call for comment on Wednesday.
