Where to Go Dancing in the Lead-Up to Midsummer Night's Swing

There's nothing more romantic than dancing away a warm summer night. In the lead-up to Tuesday's first Midsummer Night Swing of the season at Lincoln Center, there will be plenty of dancing lessons and parties happening this week that'll get you ready to rock or, er, swing.

Put on your dancing shoes and give some of them a try:

Wednesday, July 15

Swing Dancing with Orchestra

Where: Dancesport, 22 W. 34th St., Midtown
When: 9:30 p.m. 

Learn swing while listening to Jessie Bunting & The Hot Shim Sham Orchestra. It's only $5 to go and dance, and it's free for Dancesport students. 

Gotham Jazz Swing Lessons

Where: The Salon at 95 Delancey St., Lower East Side
When: 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 

This event includes a lesson at the beginning of the night in which you learn some new moves that you can perfect throughout the evening.

Gotham City Blues

Where: The Red Room, 2nd Floor at 95 Delancey St., Lower East Side
When: 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. 

Dancing begins with an hour-long jazz and blues lesson for those at all levels of skill. There's a $5 suggested donation fee.

Thursday, June 16

Frim Fram Jam

Where: Dancesport at 412 8th Ave., Midtown
When: 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Learn about swing dance with a $4 one hour lesson from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy the rest of the evening of dancing for $10. Those with college IDs can get in for $5. 

Friday, June 17

Friday Night Swings

Where: Trinity Grace Church at 231 Ainslie St., Williamsburg
When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Dance in a church for only $5 on a Friday night. Apart from free dancing, any swing enthusiasts will be able to ask questions of a dance teacher who will be on hand for any demonstrations.

Saturday, June 18

Fleur Seule at Tanner Smiths

Where: Tanner Smiths, 204 W. 55th St., Midtown
When: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday, June 19 

Big Band Brunch

Where: Swing 46, 349 W. 46th St., Midtown
When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Take a brunch date to a whole new level by dancing the afternoon away. 

Pegu Club All Stars

Where: Pegu Club, 77 Houston St. 2nd fl., Nolita
When: 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Pegu Club, which features lively jazz and swing ensembles, hosts Sunday night dancing.

Baby Soda

Where: St. Mazie, 345 Grand St., Williamsburg
When: 9:30 p.m.

A live band playing jazz tunes from the 1920s and 1930s will get things going inside this bar and supper club, which also offers a delectable menu with fresh oysters, risotto, and mussels and much more.
