CROWN HEIGHTS — Pete Zaaz has a new name and new menu, once again.

The quirky Classon Avenue pizza shop is now the Holy Moly pizzeria (full name: Holy Moly That Pizza’s Good) run by a new crew with some management left over from the Pete Zaaz days, manager Colin Phillips said.

Most importantly, he said, there’s a new menu — and new dough.

“They were using just a simple all-purpose flour, we’ve added an all-natural yeast,” he said. “Pizza really starts at the base, which is the dough.”

But don’t worry, the spot’s famous potato pie is still on the menu (for $17) along with a quinoa pie ($16), a creole pie made with a crawfish cream base ($17) and the “Cold-Hearted Chicken” pie ($17) with curried yellow squash, peppers, fried chicken pieces and mozzarella.

The new name and new concept went live about three weeks ago, Phillips said, with more natural and locally grown ingredients and a spruced-up backyard space that includes a movie screen and herb garden, a throwback to the early days of Zaaz when it first opened in 2012.

“The concept is kind of similar, but we’ve definitely upgraded,” he said.

Phillips has been with the pizza shop for at least a year and a half, since ownership of Pete Zaaz last changed hands. Since its founding four years ago by owner Pete Entner, the eatery has undergone several management and name changes, including “Zaaz Pizza.”
