EAST VILLAGE — Police are looking for a man who violently robbed a 21-year-old woman in the lobby of her apartment building near East 10th Street and First Avenue.
The suspect followed the woman into the lobby on May 7 at around 4:45 a.m., then tackled her to the ground and ripped her purse out of her hands, police said.
The suspect then fled out of the building and ran down 10th Street towards Second Avenue, according to authorities.
The victim recovered her purse a few blocks away from the incident, police said.
Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect, described as a man in his early 40s standing at 5-foot-8 with a medium build. The suspect was last seen wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans, police said.
