BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A purple party is planned for Brooklyn this weekend with Spike Lee hosting a “Prince Born Day” celebration in honor of the late musician’s birthday.

The festivities at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration will be hosted by the movie director along with rapper and radio host Sway, according to a flyer from Lee’s production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks.

The “Purple People Party” will feature music by DJ Kim Lightfoot and DJ Timmy Richardson.

“Come dressed in purple,” an announcement on the director’s Facebook page reads.

Lee paid tribute to Prince in April with a block party outside of his production headquarters in Fort Greene, where hundreds of fans celebrated the musician.

This weekend’s free get-together comes in advance of the legendary singer’s 58th birthday on June 7.

Representatives from 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks and Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the celebration.

The “Prince Born Day Purple People Party” is set for June 4 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration at Herkimer Street between New York and Brooklyn avenues.
