NEW YORK CITY — The sun and hot temperatures have aligned just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Several New York City parks have opened their lawns to the public this month so that people can start enjoying the weather.
Here are a few parks where you can find a spot of grass:
► Madison Square Park, between Fifth and Madison avenues and 23rd and 26th streets

► Bryant Park, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and 40th and 42nd Streets, Midtown Manhattan
Bryant Park's football field-length lawn opened for the season on May 9 for thousands of "nature-starved office workers" and those who want to take part in the park's myriad activities, from film festivals to yoga classes, according to a spokesman for the park.
► Governors Island, accessible by ferry from lower Manhattan and Brooklyn
Governors Island opens on Saturday and has an expanded ferry service for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. The island has more than 100 acres of green space and will have 10 more once the Hills open on July 19.

The park's Pier 1 has three lawns, the Bridge View, Harbor View and Vale lawns, to plant yourself this summer.

The oval-shaped lawn is often used for sun bathing, picnicing and as an outdoor gym.
