MOTT HAVEN — More than 100 new affordable apartments are opening up in Mott Haven, with rents starting as low as $538 for a one-bedroom.
The apartments will be located at 500 Union Ave. and available to households making between $19,818 and $63,060 per year.
Two one-bedroom units will be available for $538 a month, and five one-bedrooms will be available for $861 per month.
The building will also include 17 two-bedroom apartments for $655 a month and 66 two-bedrooms for $1,042 a month.
It will contain three-bedroom units as well, with nine going for $749 a month and 36 going for $1,196 a month.
The application process started on Friday and runs until July 25, and the building is being constructed through the low-income affordable marketplace program of the city’s Housing Development Corporation and the low income rental program of its Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
Amenities at the site will include security cameras and a community room, and laundry and parking are available as well for additional fees.
A percentage of units will be set aside for eligible Bronx Community Board 1 members, city employees and people with vision, hearing and mobile disabilities.
Prospective tenants can apply online at nyc.gov/housingconnect or by sending a self-addressed envelope to Crossroads II Plaza, 87-14 116th St., Richmond Hill, NY 11418. Applicants will be selected via lottery after the deadline has passed.
