MANHATTAN — A woman fended off a New Jersey sex offender two times after he groped her on the Upper West Side this month, police said.

The 23-year-old woman was walking past 1932 Broadway, near West 65th Street, about 3:20 p.m. May 3 when Jeffrey Mahon, 59, pulled her by the arm and groped her, NYPD officials said.

The woman broke free and fled, police said.

But on May 15, Mahon, who lives in Hoboken and is a registered sex offender there, tried to grab her again as she got out of her car near West 45th Street and Eighth Avenue about 8 a.m., police said.

She spotted Mahon in time and got back into her car and locked the doors, police said. He banged on the hood before fleeing the scene, police said.

Mahon had not been arrested as of Tuesday morning, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
