BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Summer may be a little sweeter this year with the reopening of a gourmet ice cream shop in the neighborhood.
After a two-year break, Lady Moo Moo’s scoops are making a comeback at 365 Chauncey St. near the corner of Howard Avenue.
The small retail window will open again May 27, according to shop owner Steven Lipschutz.
French pastry chef Benoit Gerin, head of gelato and sorbet manufacturing company Mont Blanc Dessert, launched the ice cream outpost in 2013, but the shop took a hiatus as Gerin and business partner Lipschutz focused on wholesale distribution, Lipschutz said.
The company’s sweet treats can also be found at upscale locales like The Plaza Hotel and The Russian Tea Room.
“It’s kind of the revival of Lady Moo Moo,” Lipschutz added. “It’s a way to try premium ice cream without having to go to a fancy hotel or restaurant.”
All of the ice creams and sorbets are made on site, with flavors like coconut, Tahitian vanilla and a 90 percent dark chocolate.
Prices start at $2.50 for a kid’s scoop, and a regular scoop is $4.
This year, Lady Moo Moo will feature a five-foot-tall gumball machine near the window, and customers who luck out with a golden gumball can get a free scoop.
The shop will be open Fridays through Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. through October and, at the end of the season, the company will donate a portion of its profits to a local homeless outreach charity, Lipschutz said.
Friday’s grand re-opening goes from noon through 8 p.m., and customers who stop by between 2 and 5 p.m. are eligible for a free kid’s scoop if they like Lady Moo Moo on Facebook.
