Engaged Couple Crossing Street Injured in Green Cab Hit-and-Run, NYPD Says

BROOKLYN — An engaged couple was crossing the street in the Gowanus when a green taxi ran a red light, hit them and fled the scene Saturday night, police said.

The couple, a man and woman who are both 46, were crossing at Third Avenue and Seventh Street about 11:30 p.m. when the taxi barreled north on Third and hit them, NYPD officials said.

The pedestrians were taken to Methodist Hospital where she was treated for injuries to her pelvis, leg and a cut to her head, police said. He was treated for pain to his elbow, ankle and calf, police said.

The taxi fled the scene and the driver was not immediately arrested, police said.

Taxi and Limousine Commission officials did not have further information.
