EAST HARLEM — Two window washers were left dangling nearly vertical for about 20 minutes outside the 12th floor of a public housing apartment building after their scaffolding malfunctioned Monday morning, witnesses and the FDNY said.

Police rescued the men unharmed at 9:40 a.m. after 20 minutes on their perch on side of the Lexington House, witness Victor Gomez said.

"They were cleaning the widows. The thing was going down and they got stuck," he said.
