HARLEM — A troupe of Harlem students' helped deliver a "smackdown" to take away top acting prizes at a citywide Shakespeare competition.
The four students from Harlem Academy, a private school on 1330 Fifth Ave., walked away with first and second place honors at the Classic Stage Company’s annual Shakespeare competition, billed as the “Shakespeare Smackdown.”
The competition brings 25 middle and high school teams from across the city to perform short scenes from the Bard's famous play "Othello" on CSC's stage at East 13th Street.
Eighth grader Taneyah Jolly and seventh grader Misa Smith took first place and sixth grader Antwuan Walker and eighth graders Kennedy Murray took second.
