NEW DORP — A former NYPD officer who has been arrested 10 times for allegedly abusing his ex-girlfriend was arrested over the weekend for trying to hire a prostitute, police said.

Manuel DaSilva, 46, tried to solicit an undercover officer behind the Stop and Shop at 2754 Hylan Boulevard, the New York Daily News reported.

He was charged with patronizing a prostitute and given a desk appearance ticket, a spokeswoman for the NYPD said.

DaSilva was arrested three times last summer for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, whom he had seven prior domestic violence incidents against, prosecutors said.

Last July, DaSilva was arrested after he allegedly threw a knife at her and said "If you tell the cops I'll put a bullet in the back of your head and get away with it 'cause I was a cop," according to court papers.

He then broke an order of protection a few days later and threatened to kill her outside of an Applebee's parking lot.

In the last reported incident, the ex told prosecutors DaSilva beat her numerous times with a stiletto heel and sat on her chest with a gun pointed at her head saying "Drop the charges or I will kill you."

The NYPD forced DaSilva out in 2007 after an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation into steroid use in a Brooklyn precinct, according to the Village Voice.

He was arrested in 2012 after he stole $76,000 worth of electronics from the SoHo Apple store where he worked as a security guard. He pleaded guilty to petit larceny in that case and was ordered to pay back about $70,000 in restitution.
