Robbers Attack Bronx Parents in Front of 4-Year-Old Son, Police Say

By Eddie Small | May 16, 2016 10:45am

CLAREMONT — A pair of robbers roughed up a Bronx couple in front of their young son while stealing furniture, phones and cash from their apartment, police said.

The two suspects followed the 43-year-old man into his apartment at 1711 Morris Ave. on May 8 around 10:40 p.m. and forced their way in after he unlocked the door, according to the NYPD.

One took out a gun, while the other took out a knife, and they demanded money and jewelry from their victims, police said.

They pushed and punched the man and his 28-year-old wife while the couple's 4-year-old son was present and stole an ottoman, jewelry, cash and cell phones from the apartment before fleeing in a black Acura TL with a New York license plate, according to the NYPD.

The victims were not seriously injured during the robbery, police said.

Video shows the robbers hanging out by a stairwell before forcing their way into their victim's apartment, running out with their stolen goods and briefly dropping the Ottoman.

Officers described the suspect with the gun as a man who stands about 6 feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds and was last seen in a black hooded sweatshirt. They described the suspect with the knife as 6 feet tall who was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
