LOWER EAST SIDE — A Staten Island man was arrested Friday for the attempted rape of a 24-year-old woman last month in the Lower East Side, according to the NYPD.

Gabriel Bulina, 18, followed the woman into an elevator in her apartment building near Stanton and Pitt streets at about 3:20 p.m. on April 23, police said. As the elevator reached the floor, Bulina started to grope the woman and then pushed her against a wall.

Bulina then followed the victim to her apartment, but fled when a man inside the home came to the door, the NYPD said.

Bulina was arrested at his Staten Island home and charged with attempted rape, sexually motivated burglary, sex abuse and forcible touching, police said.
