MANHATTAN — The fire department was inspecting loose bricks on the facade of an East Village building Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.

Part of the façade was hanging off of 115 E. Ninth St. near Third Avenue at about 5:35 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

The Department of Buildings requested a structural stability test for the building, according to its website.

One man who lived in the building but would not give his name claimed the façade has been a problem for some time.

"I reported this a year ago," he said.

Natalie Vick, 22, who is a student at NYU said she lived across the street from the East Village explosion last year.

"I guess I'm two for two," she said. "The East Village as a whole is falling apart."

There was no immediate information if any buildings had been evacuated.
