BROOKLYN — A  man was shot in the leg near a Bed-Stuy school Wednesday afternoon, according to the FDNY and sources.

The shooting happened at 319 Chauncey St. one block from P.S. 40 at about 4:44 p.m., fire officials said.

The victim told police he was shot while walking on Chauncey Street and did not see who fired at him, according to sources.

The man was taken to Kings County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the FDNY said.

A neighbor told DNAinfo New York she heard two shots.

The NYPD did not have any immediate information on the shooting, but a source said the victim was not cooperating with police.

Neighbor Lanier Boston, 45, said he is not too concerned for the safety of his 5-year-old son because residents look out for each other.

"I grew up on this block, I'm always keeping my eyes open for anything," Boston said.
