BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — You can bank on secure storage for your wheels at a new apartment building on Gates Avenue.
A former high-ceilinged, one-story bank near the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick that was converted into apartments is offering amenities that include bike storage in the bank’s master vault, a café and a movie theater.
Units at The Brooklyn-Roosevelt, located at 1024 Gates Ave. near Broadway, are on the market, with studios starting at $1,895 a month.
The building was originally completed in 1907 and designed by architecture firm Helmle, Huberty & Hudswell, which was known for other Brooklyn attractions such as Prospect Park’s Boathouse and St. Barbara's Roman Catholic Church in Bushwick, according to brokerage company Level Group.

The Beaux-Arts style structure was home to Eastern District Savings Bank, which later changed its name to Roosevelt Savings Bank.
The now six-story building has 49 apartments with studios, one- and two-bedrooms, a 24-hour doorman, on-site laundry, and a gym.
The basement houses the bank’s former master vault, which can store a minimum of 25 bikes, according to Level Group’s associate broker Joe Peretore.

Another existing vault will be converted for future use, though its function has yet to be determined. A yoga studio and rehearsal space is also planned later this year, Peretore said, along with indoor parking.
On the third floor, residents can access a 12-seat movie theater with a 120-inch screen, where they can stream movies or shows with a building subscription for Netflix and Hulu, or use their own devices to plug in, according to the broker.
A co-working space offers desks, tables, and lounge area, and all shared spaces have Wi-Fi, Peretore added.

“There is so much more focus in this building on the services and communal features,” he said.
“The building has an app where tenants can get notifications when packages are received, or a community calendar if you’re going to be watching a movie and want to send a message out — that’s a fantastic feature.”
