LOWER EAST SIDE — A man was stabbed outside The Delancey in the early morning hours of May 4 during an altercation with two men, according to police.

The victim told police he got into a verbal dispute with two men inside the bar at 168 Delancey St. at around 4:10 a.m., according to a police report.

The altercation then spilled into the street, where one of the suspects stabbed the victim with an unknown sharp object across the face, ear and neck, authorities said.

A neighbor who lives on Columbia Street, a few blocks from the bar, said he was passing the crime scene on his way home as the victim was being loaded into an ambulance.

"I thought he died, there was so much blood," said Greg, who declined to share his last name.

Police confirmed that the second suspect, who was involved in the altercation but did not stab the victim, was detained but has not been formally charged with any crimes. Authorities are still looking for the suspect who carried out the stabbing, police said.

An employee at The Delancey said she was not present at the time of the incident and was unable to comment. The owner was not immediately available for comment.
