COLUMBIA STREET WATERFRONT DISTRICT — The much-anticipated hot chicken restaurant from celebrity television chef Carla Hall will finally open on Memorial Day, her team said Wednesday.

Carla Hall's Southern Kitchen, at 115 Columbia St. at the corner of Kane Street, will host a soft opening May 30 with a limited menu, spokeswoman Denise Psyhogios said.

A grand opening is set for June 17.

The eatery's "star dish" will be Nashville-style hot chicken served at six different levels of heat, ranging from "Hoot & Honey" on the milder side to "Boomshakalaka" for "hot chicken gurus," according to the rep and the restaurant's website.

Hot and cold sides will also be available, including "Baked Mac n’ Cheese" and "Collards n’ Pot Likker."

There will also be a Southern selection of craft beers and cocktails from Nashville and Charleston-based purveyors as well as iced tea and lemonade.

The restaurant was scheduled to open at the end of March after a February opening date was delayed.

It will take over the former location of Andy Ricker's Whiskey Soda Lounge NY. His Pok Pok NY restaurant is still across the street on Columbia at Kane Street.
