CHELSEA — A $40,000 drawing has gone missing from an art gallery in Chelsea, police said.

An employee at the Marianne Boesky Gallery at 509 W. 24th St. took an inventory of the gallery’s works in in August 2014, recording the pricey drawing by American artist Roxy Paine, the NYPD said.

But a year-and-a-half later, on Feb. 20, the staffer discovered the artwork was missing, police said.

While the employee reported the missing drawing to police on April 23, she said she didn’t feel the site was the victim of a crime, the NYPD said.

Paine’s exhibit, “Denuded Lens,” was on display at the gallery between Sept. 4, 2014, and Oct. 18, 2014, according to the gallery’s website.

A representative for the gallery did not respond to requests for comment.

Paine did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent through his website.
