Man Arrested After Stealing 18 Tubes of Sensodyne Toothpaste, Police Say

PARK SLOPE — A thief who was apparently suffering from teeth sensitivity issues stole 18 tubes of Sensodyne toothpaste on April 27, according to a police report.

The suspect swiped the tubes, worth about $104, from the Stop & Shop in the Atlantic Terminal Mall at 5:35 p.m., according to the report. The 34-year-old man was arrested.

Other recent crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with all details from police reports:

► Three teenage boys stole a $100 bill from the cash register at Empire Express Chinese Restaurant on Ninth Street near Fifth Avenue on April 17 at 7 p.m.

► Two men were arrested after getting into a fist fight at Bar Tano on Ninth Street and Third Avenue on April 18 at about 4:15 a.m. The two men were co-workers who had been drinking together before the scuffle broke out. Both were hospitalized at New York Methodist Hospital with cuts and bruises.

► A thief stole $220 worth of medicine from the Rite Aid on Fifth Avenue and 10th Street on April 17 about 8 p.m. The stolen drugs included Advil, Tylenol, Bayer aspirin, Motrin and NyQuil.

►  A 30-year-old man was arrested after stealing a Citi Bike that was last docked at Dean Street and Fourth Avenue in March.

► A Volvo V70 was stolen while it was parked on Seventh Avenue near 14th Street on April 17 between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m.

Overall, major crime in the 78th Precinct has dropped 25 percent this year compared to the same period in 2015, according to the most recent statistics from the NYPD. There were 190 major crimes reported between Jan. 1 and April 17, 2016 and 253 major crimes during that period in 2015.
