FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A thief hopped onto a Citi Bike, riding off as the renter was standing right next to the bike, police said.
Steven Acosta jumped on the bike on April 24 at 8:20 p.m. in front of 50 Fulton St., and began riding off down the block, the NYPD said.
Police arrested him soon after. Acosta pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of stolen property.
He was sentenced to a day custody program — a three day sanction that involved community service through the Department of Corrections, rather than jail time.
