BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Take a spin along Brooklyn’s streets with free guided bike rides throughout the borough.

Community development nonprofit Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation is teaming up with Citi Bike to offer bi-weekly rides and tours from May through October. Participants can bring their own bicycle or use a free Citi Bike.

Every Wednesday and Saturday, riders can cruise along different routes, stopping by farmers markets, parks and other neighborhood spots, organizers said.

“We hope to encourage people who might be reluctant to give cycling a try and experience first-hand the health, financial and environmental benefits they can reap,” Tracey Capers, executive vice president for programs at Restoration, said in a statement.

“This is especially important for Bedford-Stuyvesant, a community where residents often have to utilize a combination of train, bus and walking to get from one part of the neighborhood to another.”

Rides will be led by community partners, including Dr. Torian Easterling, assistant commissioner at the city Department of Health, and members of community organizations like Transportation Alternatives and the YMCA.

Representatives from Interfaith Medical Center will lead rides on the first Wednesday of each month, organizers said.
