
ASTORIA — A man dressed as a construction worker tried to rob a Queens bank Wednesday at gunpoint, according to the NYPD.
The suspect walked into the Sussex Bank on Astoria Boulevard near 29th Street shortly before 4 p.m., decked out in construction attire, including a hard hat, reflective vest, a pair of gloves, sunglasses and a dust mask over his mouth, police said.
He pulled out a gun and demanded money, but fled the bank empty-handed, heading west on Astoria Boulevard and then north on 27th Street, according to police.
The man is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, about 180 pounds, and standing 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11, police said.
