BUSHWICK — A comic book fan who went by the name "Megatron" was fatally shot in Bushwick Tuesday morning, sources said.

Angel Bomales, whose family said was also known as "Polo," was shot in the right shoulder at 349 Linden St., near Myrtle Avenue, about 11:49 a.m., NYPD and FDNY officials said.

Vee Thomas, 64, saw emergency workers trying to save the victim who sources told DNAinfo was 37 years-old.

"They were pumping his heart," he said. "His head was moving side to side. I thought he was having a heart attack."

Bomales was taken to Wyckoff Medical Center where he was declared dead, police said.

"When my son left, he was alive. Now he's dead," said Bomales' mother Norma Enriquez, 75. "He was my only child."

His friends who gathered at the scene of the shooting said Bomales collected X-Men and Marvel action figures and also loved graffiti.

"He was a good brother," said Malik Madera who said Bomales was a close friend. "He'd make you smile, anything. He motivated people. He was a great person to this neighborhood."

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the shooting, police said.

"They took the wrong person," said Madera. "He didn't deserve this."

An NYPD spokesman did not have information about the violence.
