Man Stabbed in Road Rage Fight Crashes While Driving to Hospital: NYPD

By Shaye Weaver | April 25, 2016 1:11pm

UPPER EAST SIDE — A Bronx man tried to drive himself to the hospital Saturday night after he was stabbed several times during a road rage fight — but crashed into a parked car, according to the NYPD.

Witnesses said that around 11:10 p.m., the 45-year-old man got out of his gray Toyota on East 61st Street, in front of One Sutton Place North by York Avenue, and tried to pull another man out of his black Altima to fight over traffic issues they had on the Queensboro Bridge, authorities said.

A fight ensued, and the suspect, who police are still looking for, stabbed the man roughly seven times in his torso and then they both drove off, according to police.

Police did not know what kind of object the suspect used to stab the victim.

The victim then attempted to drive himself to a hospital but he ended up crashing into a parked car at East 75th Street and Madison Avenue, police said.

He was taken by ambulance to the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

"We thought we were going to lose him," said Robert Boyce, the NYPD Chief of Detectives, said during a press conference on Monday. "Apparently he is going to survive his wounds, thank God."

Police are looking through FDR Drive traffic camera footage to track down the suspect's car, which had Rhode Island license plates, he said.

Investigators released footage of the suspect Monday night.
