MANHATTAN — A man was killed Thursday afternoon at a construction site when a wooden plank fell on him, police said.

Louis Mata, 32, was hit inside the site at 421 Hudson St., near Clarkson Street, minutes after 5 p.m., NYPD officials said.

Mata, of Port Chester, suffered severe neck and back injuries and was pronounced dead at Lenox Health Greenwich Village, police said.

There is no criminality suspected, but police are continuing to investigate, they said.

The Department of Buildings issued violations at the site twice in March for improper electrical work, according to the city website.

People have filed 20 complaints against the project since February for infractions that allege failure to safeguard plumbers, illegal appliance hook-ups and blocking exits, according to the DOB website.
