SUNSET PARK — A man pleaded guilty this week for trying to steal thousands of dollars from King Bao Variety Store in Sunset Park in December — but police are still searching for his partner in the crime, officials said.

Edwin Morales, 57, of Sunset Park, was arrested in January and charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property, according to police and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.

On Thursday, Morales pleaded guilty to attempted robbery with a promised sentence of five years in prison and five years post-release supervision, a spokesman for the DA said. His next court day is May 3.

Morales and the second suspect robbed the variety store at 4502 Sixth Ave. on Dec. 17, 2015 at 2:25 p.m., police said.

The male suspect, who police are still seeking, forced a 38-year-old female employee into the back of the shop and tied her hands and feet with rope, authorities said.

Morales, armed with a silver gun, took $800 from the cash register and a box containing $13,000. Both men fled the scene. The victim did not sustain any injuries, police said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans and brown boots.
