Duo Breaks Into Six Staten Island Businesses, Police Say

STATEN ISLAND — Burglars broke into six businesses, taking cash and goods over a span of three months across Staten Island, police said.

The thieves hit stores including delis and a nail salon in Port Richmond, West Brighton and Castleton Corners, breaking in through the roof or back door, police said.

They first struck on Jan. 3 when they cut a hole in the roof of Variedades Los Reyes 99 Cents Store, at 144 Port Richmond Ave., at about 9 p.m. and took approximately $900 and 10 boxes of phone cards before leaving, the NYPD said.

On Jan. 23, the suspects got into the Bonbeauty Outlet Beauty & Nail Salon, at 172 Port Richmond Ave., at about 1:25 a.m. and took an undetermined amount of cash from the register inside.

Their next break-in was on at 2 p.m. on Feb. 15 when they got into the Key Food at 331 Port Richmond Ave. through the roof but fled without taking anything, police said.

On Feb. 20, the suspects went through the roof into The Book Card Store at 652 Forest Ave. at approximately 4:58 a.m. and took cash, cigarettes and Metro Cards from inside, police said.

On March 3, the pair broke in to the Grocega Deli Store, at 1196 Castleton Ave., at about 10 p.m. through the back door and took various electronics and cash from inside, police said.

Their last reported burglary was on March 22, when they broke into the 99 Cents Store at 1410 Forest Ave. at about 3:55 a.m. through the roof and took cash, the NYPD said.

The first male suspect was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt under a light vest, light pants, black sneakers. He was wearing eye glasses, police said.

Police said the second male suspect was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt, dark jogging pants and black sneakers and he was carrying a backpack.
