EAST VILLAGE — Police arrested and charged a man in the fatal shooting of a young father on East 12th Street Thursday night.

Theodore Holloway, 23, fired from the backseat of a parked car, striking and killing neighbor Elliot Caldwell, also 23, outside 635 E. 12th St. around 10:45 p.m., according to the NYPD and court papers.

Caldwell had a 3-year-old son and was well known in the area for his outgoing personality, relatives said.

“He was a great father,” said his aunt, who refused to give her name. “He changed his life for his son. He just got caught up in a bad situation.”

Holloway was arrested Friday and charged with murder, police said.

He has been arrested 11 times before, most recently for robbery and assault, an NYPD spokesman said.

Holloway was held without bail after being arraigned on Saturday, records said. He is due back in court on Thursday.
