EAST VILLAGE — The Nugget Spot, an East Village restaurant serving up artisanal spins on the fast food favorite, on April 26 will host a special Japanese-themed feast to celebrate the city’s cherry blossom season.

The 14th Street eatery’s “Nugget Blossom Bash” will feature an elaborate tasting menu blending traditional Japanese flavors with the traditional fried goodness of the chicken nugget, all served alongside a variety of sakes.

“I’m a big fan of sake,” said chef Jason Hairston. “Any excuse to pair sake with nuggets is welcome to me.”

The one-off menu will include a roasted cod nugget with white miso sauce, a chicken karaage coconut nugget and a braised pork belly nugget — plus a handful of vegetarian-friendly options, such as a rice ball with pickled daikon and carrot, an edamame fritter and a tofu nugget.

“I wanted to do something a little outside the box, instead of just doing teriyaki,” said Hairston.

Spirits company TY KU Sake, supplying the booze for the event, will be on hand to offer sake tastings.

Fans of sake-nugget pairings will be treated to the smorgasbord, happening between 7 and 9 p.m., for a flat rate of $40. Anyone interested in attending should reserve a spot by calling 646-422-7346.
