MIDTOWN — A drunk passenger punched an Uber driver in the face after the driver asked him to get out of his vehicle, police said.

The 26-year-old driver from Queens picked up several passengers in his vehicle around 12:50 am. on April 3 outside Lavo nightclub at 39 E. 58th St., he told police.

But after an “intoxicated” male passenger started giving the driver a hard time, the driver stopped at the northeast corner of East 52nd Street and Fifth Avenue and asked the man and the other passengers to get out of the vehicle, the NYPD said.

The drunk passenger then hit the driver on the left side of his face with a closed fist, leaving him with bruises and in pain, the driver told police.

He and the other passengers fled on foot in an unknown direction, the NYPD said.

A spokeswoman for Uber did not immediately respond to request for comment on Friday.
