16 Subway Lines Slated for Service Changes This Weekend

MIDTOWN — April showers have finally given way to spring-like temperatures. Take advantage by staying in your neighborhood and going for a stroll because 16 subway lines are slated for service changes this weekend, including 7 trains which will not run between Manhattan and Queens.

Skip to your train line here: 1 Line, 2 Line, 3 Line, 4 Line5 Line, 6 Line, 7 Line, A Line, C Line, E LineD Line, F Line, L Line, N Line, R Line, 42nd Street Shuttle

1 Line: Service is suspended in both directions between 14th Street and South Ferry from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Trains will also run express between 34th Street and 14th Street. Free shuttle buses will operate between Chambers Street and South Ferry.

2 Line: Trains will run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Southbound 2 trains will skip Jackson Avenue in The Bronx from 4:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

3 Line: Trains will run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Service on the 3 line will operate to and from New Lots Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains are skipping Saratoga Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue in both directions at all times until the fall. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service.

4 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between New Lots Avenue and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Riders can take a 2, 3, D, J, N, Q or R train for alternate service.

4 trains will make local stops between Woodlawn and Brooklyn Bridge in both directions.

There is no uptown service at 103rd Street.

Service is skipping Saratoga Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue in both directions at all times until the fall. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service.

5 Line: Service will be suspended to all stations in both directions from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Riders can take a 2 or 4 train for alternate service. Free shuttle buses will also run between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street.

6 Line: Uptown trains are skipping 103rd Street through the spring. Riders can use the 96th Street or 110th Street stations or take an M101, M102 or M103 bus for alternate service.

7 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between Times Square-42nd Street and 74th Street-Broadway from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Monday. Riders can take an E, F, N R or Shuttle train for alternate service.

Trains will run in two sections every 15 to 20 minutes between Flushing-Main Street and 74th Street-Broadway and between Times Square and 34th Street-Hudson Yards.

Free shuttle buses will provide service along two routes:

Between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza.

Between Queensboro Plaza and 74th Street-Broadway.

A Line: Service will be rerouted over the F line in both directions between Jay Street-MetroTech and West 4th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains will run local in both directions between West 4th Street and 59th Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains will run local in both directions between 125th Street and 168th Street from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

C Line: Service will be rerouted over the F line in both directions between Jay Street and West 4th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There will be no service in both directions between 145th Street and 168th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

E Line: Jamaican Center-bound trains will run express form Queens Plaza to 71st Avenue from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday from 12:15 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday.

E trains will skip 23rd Street and Spring Street in both directions from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Additional service will run between Manhattan and Queens from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Some trains heading from Manhattan into Queens will be rerouted to the 179th F station.

D Line: Uptown trains will skip Bay 50th Street and 25th Avenue in Brooklyn from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Trains will stop at 135th Street in both directions from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Church Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service. Riders can also take a D, N or Q train for alternate service.

L Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Riders can take an A, C or J train for alternate service. Free shuttle buses will also provide alternate service.

N Line: Uptown trains will skip 86th Street, Avenue U, Kings Highway, 20th Avenue, 18th Avenue, New Utrecht Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway at all times during early spring. Trains will stop at Bay Parkway and 8th Avenue.

For service to 86th Street, Avenue U and Kings Highway take an uptown N train to Bay Parkway and transfer to a downtown-bound N train.

For service to 20th Avenue, 18th Avenue, New Utrecht Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway take an uptown N train to 8th Avenue and transfer to a southbound N train.

Riders traveling from the stations can take a downtown N train to Bay Parkway or Stillwell Avenue and transfer to an uptown train.

Riders can take a D train for alternate service from New Utrecht.

R Line: Forest Hills-71st Avenue-bound trains will run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

42nd Shuttle: Service will run overnight from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.
