LOWER EAST SIDE — Two intoxicated customers got into a drunken brawl at Katz’s Deli in the early morning hours of April 3, leading one to punch the other in the face before getting booted from the deli, according to police and restaurant management.
One of the brawlers punched the other in the left eye during a spat at the iconic eatery at around 2 a.m., police said.
The deli’s owner said the “two drunk idiots” got into an aggressive verbal dispute before getting physical, at which point the restaurant kicked them both out onto the street.
“This is not a godd--- boxing ring,” said Jake Dell. “This is a place of business.”
The injured man, who was left with a bruised and swollen eye, went to the police station afterwards to report the incident, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
