LOWER MANHATTAN — A subway train conductor was smashed in the head with a glass bottle as she pulled into the Houston Street station Monday, police said.

The 58-year-old conductor was letting passengers out of the 2 train in the Houston Street station at about 4:30 a.m. when a woman on the platform flung a glass bottle at her, police said.

The bottle crashed into the conductor's forehead, slicing her between the eyebrows. The victim was taken to Montefiore Hospital and has been released.

The woman who hurled the bottle fled the station, police said.

Police are still investigating the incident.
