
COLUMBUS CIRCLE — A thief more concerned with dental hygiene than moral decay stole more than $1,500 worth of toothbrushes from the local Duane Reade, police said.
Around 3:55 a.m. on April 1, a man between the ages of 30 and 40 walked to the lower level of the store at 4 Columbus Circle and took 44 assorted toothbrushes off the shelf and stuffed them in a gift bag, a 49-year-old employee who reviewed the store’s video surveillance told police.
The bristle thief fled with loot valued at a total of $1,678, the NYPD said
An employee working at the Duane Reade on Friday said he was not aware of the theft.
