SUNSET PARK — A new employment center at Sunset Park's Industry City could help locals find a job in one of the hundreds of businesses based in the massive complex or along the waterfront.

The 7,700-square-foot center, called "The Innovation Lab," will open to the public Monday on the second floor of 87 35th St. near Third Avenue.

It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday, organizers announced this week.

The "Innovation Lab" is set to provide pre-screening and job placement services at more than 400 businesses that work out of Industry City, a massive 6-million-square-foot complex of warehouses in Sunset Park.

Industry City is home to dozens of food, drink, manufacturing and artisanal makers, such as home decor company Alexandra Ferguson, Blick Art Supplies, Industry City Distillery and Li-Lac Chocolates.

The center will also provide similar services for employment at Bush Terminal, Liberty View Industrial Plaza, Sims Recycling Facility and the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

Along with job recruitment, some career-building programs will be offered by nonprofits such as South Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation and Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, such as resume writing, interview skills and tech workshops.

In the coming months, New York City College of Technology and Brooklyn Workforce Innovations will begin hosting host more advanced services, such as business development and technical training, a spokeswoman said.
