CRIME BLOTTER: 'Fed Up' Spray Painted on Park Slope Bank Results in Arrest

PARK SLOPE — A man who spray painted the words "Fed up" on the side of a bank was arrested March 31, according to a police report.

The 39-year-old South Carolina resident signed a confession admitting that he defaced the back of a Chase bank on Fifth Avenue and 14th Street about 5:35 a.m., according to the report.

Other notable recent crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with details drawn from police reports:

► A man skipped out on part of his bill at a Thai restaurant on Flatbush Avenue and Prospect Place on March 25 at 2 p.m. The man said "I want to return my drink," then refused to pay his entire $38.11 bill. The man left $22 and fled the restaurant.

► The tires were slashed on a 2002 Audi parked near Vanderbilt Avenue and Prospect Place on March 28.

► A 53-year-old woman left her cellphone unattended at the main branch of the Brooklyn public library at Grand Army Plaza on March 22 about 8 p.m. and returned to find it gone.

Overall, major crime in the 78th Precinct has dropped 24 percent this year compared to the same period in 2015, according to the most recent statistics from the NYPD. There were 163 major crimes reported between Jan. 1 and April 3, 2016, and 214 major crimes during that period in 2015.
