COLUMBUS CIRCLE — A straphanger groped an off-duty police officer as he rode the A train to work, police said.

The 33-year-old officer from Manhattan was riding an A train traveling southbound near Columbus Circle and West 58th Street around 8:15 a.m. on March 30 when a man he didn’t know groped his crotch area, the NYPD said.

The officer tried to catch the groper, but the man exited the train and disappeared into a crowd, police said.

The assailant left the station and fled to an unknown location, the NYPD said.

The off-duty officer reviewed videos from cameras at the location, but the review was unsuccessful, police said.
