BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A teenage girl stabbed a 13-year-old boy inside a C train Wednesday evening after his friend called her ugly, police said.
The girl, who officials say is between 14 to 16 years old, was riding a Manhattan-bound C train around 6 p.m. when the teen boy's friend called her “ugly,” an NYPD spokesman said.
When the train pulled into the Ralph Avenue station and the doors opened, the girl pulled a knife out of her bag and stabbed the 13-year-old in his abdomen, according to police. She tried to stab his friend too, but he escaped, police said.
The teen then fled the station, police said.
The boy was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition, officials said.
Police released a photo of the suspect, who they describe as approximately 5-foot-5, 130 pounds, wearing a black leather jacket and light blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
