MIDTOWN — A pedestrian was hurt by glass that fell from the DoubleTree Hotel in Midtown Thursday afternoon, according to the FDNY and witnesses.

The glass fell from a panel on the side of the hotel on East 51st Street just east of Lexington Avenue at about 2:51 p.m. and struck the person on the sidewalk, a fire department spokesman and witnesses said.

The person was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with minor injuries, the FDNY added.

A local worker said he noticed this past weekend that the panel, which is about 20 feet above the sidewalk, appeared to be cracked.

"The window was broken since Saturday, people from the nail salon complained at the front desk and they didn't do anything," said Antonio Cartolano, 81, who works in a barbershop on the side of building.

Witnesses said the glass panel fell from the side of the DoubleTree Hotel on East 51st Street.
