Burglar Hits 9 Office Buildings in Midtown and Chelsea, Police Say

MANHATTAN — One man has broken into at least nine Manhattan buildings since August, according to a police report.

Police are on the lookout for a man they say has been behind a half-year burglary spree across Chelsea and Midtown.

The suspected burglar has hit businesses and offices, striking mostly in the morning and evening and targeting computers and other electronics, police said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt, black pants, black shoes, a black cap and carrying a book bag, police said.

The burglar first struck on Aug. 10 at about 7:52 a.m., when he strolled in the front door of a commercial building at 114 W. 26th St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues and swiped laptops from several offices in the building, according to a report.

The other burglaries tied to the man include:

► On Aug. 20 at 7:30 p.m. the suspect walked into a building at 18 W. 18th St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues and stole several laptops from the office of an e-commerce website, police said. There was no sign of forced entry, according to police.

► On Oct. 5 at about 8 p.m. the man strolled into a commercial building at 460 Park Ave. between E. 57th and E. 58th streets and stole an iPhone 6 and some laptops from two offices, with no sign of forced entry, according to police.

► The suspect struck again on Oct. 12 when he broke into the office of a consulting firm at 15 E. 32nd St. between Madison and Fifth avenues and stole two laptops before fleeing on foot, police said.

► On Dec. 3 at about 7 p.m., the burglar broke into an office in a building at 72 Madison Ave. between East 27th and East 28th streets and made off with a pair of laptops and an apple desktop, according to a police report.

► On Dec. 6 at about 5 p.m., the man hit a building at 115 Fifth Ave. between West 18th and West 19th streets by breaking a glass window and a pair of office doors, and swiped three laptops, police said.

► On Dec. 11 at about 8 p.m., the burglar strolled into a building at 145 W. 28th St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues and stole laptops, Beats by Dre headphones, and other electronics, police said.

► On Dec. 29 at about 6:50 p.m., the suspect broke into the office of a publishing company at 22 W. 21st St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues and stole laptops and electronics, police said.

► In the most recent incident, the burglar broke into the office of a consulting firm at 152 W. 25th St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues and swiped three laptops, according to a police report.
